I am a fellow Christian and an amateur/hobbyist composer/music producer. I have in mind to create a collection of songs based upon spoken word samples, taken from the answers to a set of questions I’ll be posing, centred around our walk with Jesus. Through a number of songs I hope to capture the essence of what it is to walk with Jesus, who He is to us, the ups and the downs of the human experience and in particular the Christian walk. I would be very grateful to anyone who would be interested and willing in participating in this project. I’ll include the questions a bit later on.
My intention is to forward the set of questions, and then anyone who is willing to participate could either make a voice recording themselves, say using the voice recorder on their phone, and then e-mail it back to me, or could just answer the questions in writing, and I would then either voice those samples myself or use AI to generate the spoken word sample. Please send to bexlenton3367@gmail.com.
This will be an anonymous project, so there won’t be any mention of who the samples are from or where they are based etc, so there will be nothing to connect the samples to you, other than your voice. If you would still like to send in an audio sample but have your voice changed in some way via effects or AI please say so.
I have never done anything like this before so this process is entirely new to me, but I will just outline some conditions beforehand to manage expectations and keep things clean and clear:
1) I will endeavour to handle all material tactfully and sensitively, but also be aware that the purpose of these samples is not to faithfully represent an actual interview, and are being used with artistic license for creative purposes. Samples may be cut, rearranged and have effects added to them, and combined with other samples to create a desired overall effect. Due to the potential volume of samples and based upon what may or may not work, it is highly likely that some samples may not be used at all.
2) For legal reasons, once I have received any vocal samples or written answers to questions, these will be entirely my intellectual property, to do with as I see fit, with no further permissions required. Whilst this is just a personal project, in the very remote possibility there is some financial gain down the line from songs I have written using these materials, there will be no right or claim to these profits or any other related benefit for anyone who has provided audio or written answers to the questions I’ve posed. Any gain/benefit will be handled at my discretion. This is purely to avoid any potential legal complications and headaches down the road. I will accept receipt of audio or written answers to the questions as affirmation of your agreement to this condition. If anyone is uncomfortable with this, there is no need to respond to these questions.
Ok, now the nitty gritty is out of the way, on to the questions! I’m just looking really for short answers, maybe a sentence or two long, more though if you really feel like it, also just a word or two is totally fine. You can go as deep as you feel comfortable with, so don’t feel obliged to share anything you don’t want to, but also I’m open to whatever you might want to share.
I think that covers it, but if there is anything else that feels appropriate please feel free to share.
This project will likely be a long time in the making, but my intention at some point will probably be to set up a Youtube page or something like that and put the completed work up there so people can listen to it, but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. I’m of course happy to keep people posted and let them know how it’s going if they’re interested.
If you are happy with all this and do respond, thank you so much, I really appreciate it, and hope to create something special, to honour God and His people.
All the best and God bless.
Bex
