Prayer:
God of justice and mercy,
You see the ones the world overlooks,
those who walk in quiet sorrow,
those who carry burdens too heavy to name.
You lift up the lowly and strengthen the weary;
You bring down the proud whose power harms and divides.
Your heart is always toward the humble,
and Your kingdom upends the kingdoms of this world.
Teach us to listen for Your voice—
in the stillness of prayer,
in the cry of those who suffer,
and in the gentle nudges You place upon our hearts.
Make us responsive to Your call:
courageous when You urge us to act,
compassionate when You show us someone in need,
and humble enough to recognize
where we must lay down our own pride and power.
Shape us into people who reflect Your justice,
who lift up others as You lift us,
and who trust in Your faithful work
to renew, restore, and transform all things.
Amen.
Questions:
How can I help lift up the lowly?
How can I hold the powerful to account?
How can I be the light of Christ this week?
Are we listening for God?
